Kent County Planners Establish "Listening Posts"
Kent County planning staff have begun a series of "listening post" sessions, throughout the county, to gather public input for an update of the Kent County Comprehensive Plan. The informal sessions are designed to give residents a chance to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas with county staff in an informal setting. The Listening Post sessions, set to run from late summer into the fall, will lead to more formal Issues Forums in the late fall and winter.

Preliminary Program Now Available for Regional Planning Conference
A Preliminary Program (PDF) has been posted for the 2006 Regional Planning Conference of the Delaware and Maryland Chapters of the American Planning Association (APA). The Conference -- From Urban to Suburban and Back -- will be held October 4 through 6 at the Spencer Hotel, on North King Street, in Wilmington. It is co-sponsored by the Delaware Humanities Forum and the AARP.
The Conference will feature breakout sessions organized around tracks that include Planning for the Aging Population, Regional Planning, Environmental Issues, Regional Transportation, and Professional Development for Planners. There will also be a series of Mobile Workshops. The conference is designed for planning professionals, local planning commission members, elected officials, students and the public. Major speakers include John Byrne PhD, Director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy (Invited), John O. Norquist, President and CEO of Congress for the New Urbanism, and William Novelli, CEO of AARP.

Agendas Posted for July PLUS Review Meetings
Agendas have been posted for the July 26 and August 2 meeting of the Preliminary Land Use Service (PLUS). The meetings both will start at 8:30 a.m. in the first floor conference room of the Haslet Armory, on William Penn Street, in Dover. PLUS meetings are designed to facilitate review and comment by state agency planners on proposed land use changes and channel feedback to developers before they go before local governments, which have final approval authority. A map of the latest PLUS projects is also available.

Agenda Posted for July 20 Cabinet Committee Meeting
An agenda (WORD) has been posted for the July 20 meeting of the Cabinet Committee on State Planning Issues. The Committee will meet, starting at 9:00 a.m., in Room 321 of the Haslet Armory, at 122 William Penn Street, in Dover. The agenda includes a briefing for Committee members on activities in the Office of State Planning Coordination, and review of grants and grant guidelines.
