2002 DELAWARE ORTHOPHOTOGRAPHY
Digital orthophotography serves as a photographic base-map for all of the spatial data sets in the Delaware Spatial Data Framework. The Delaware I-Team contracted with EarthData International to collect digital orthophotography of the entire state of Delaware in 2002. This data serves as the Orthophotography portion of the Framework and updates similar projects in 1984, 1992, and 1997.
A 1-meter pixel resolution version of the 2002 orthophotography is available on-line as part of the Map Lab of the Delaware DataMIL. For those with desktop GIS tools that can access Internet Map Service (IMS) feeds, the DataMIL offers IMS feeds of the 1937, 1984, 1992, 1997 and 2002 photography. A higher-resolution version is available on a limited basis for those who sign and file a copy of the Acceptable Use Agreement approved by the I-Team.
Versions of the 1992 and 1997 imagery are also available in a reduced-resolution form for download from the Spatial Analysis Lab of the University of Delaware's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
The 2002 project was designed by a team of representatives from the GIS community, including all three Delaware counties, to ensure that it is at a resolution that will support local parcel mapping efforts. The 2002 project also allowed for a more fine-grained land use and land cover analysis.
